HOBY Students at State Capitol

Students from the HOBY program visited the Capitol on May 25 and had many questions for Senator Jill Tokuda and I (top right inset) during a discussion session held in Room 016.
Hawaii public and private high school sophomores participating in the Hugh O'Brian Youth (HOBY) Leadership Seminar visited the State Capitol on Friday, May 25 where they got to meet several State Lawmakers. I spoke to the group about leadership, the accomplishments and failures of the 2007 legislature, and encouraged them to be good citizens by participating in the legislative process and to go out and vote when they become of age.
HOBY provides lifelong leadership development opportunities that empower individuals to achieve their highest potential. Core values extolled by HOBY include volunteerism, excellence, organizational integrity, diversity, innovative thinking, community partnership and lifelong learning opportunities.
